National: Nat'l Ctr. for Public Health Law Issue Brief -- Elder Drivers

The safety of elder drivers, those 65 and older, is a topic of continuing debate in the United States. A solid evidence base shows that older drivers are more prone to accidents in general, and even more prone to fatal accidents. Most states have enacted statutes or regulations that aim to identify and remove from the road older drivers that are no longer able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
