I am concerned about my husband’s ability to drive safely now that his hearing and vision have declined. I'd greatly appreciate some tips on approaching the subject of his safety behind the wheel with him. -- Pat

Hi Pat,

Many thanks for reaching out. This is understandably a difficult issue and you're not alone in struggling to broach the topic with a loved one. For starters, be sure to check out the section on this website dedicated to exactly this: https://www.roadsafeseniors.org/resources/family-caregiver-resources-and-alternative-transportation/resources-assist-older-road-user

You also may wish to reach out to Rides In Sight (https://www.roadsafeseniors.org/resources/family-caregiver-resources-and-alternative-transportation/alternative-transportation-5) to at least begin an exploration of the transportation services available in your community to assist you and your family.

Best,

Bruce

The Hartford has a nice series of booklets to address the "we need to talk" issue.
